Five Level Solid Control Equipment Workflow

Mud solid control (referred to as solid control) equipment is to control harmful solid particles in mud, through scientific layout of solid control equipment, to form a reasonable and efficient drilling fluid solid control process. The harmful solid phase in the mud can be removed, and the useful solid phase can be retained to meet the requirements of drilling technology on the performance of the mud.

The new mud solid control equipment adopts five-stage solid control, and the solid phase control process is as follows

(1) A solid control equipment – Shale shaker-remove large pull. The drilling cuttings returned by the bottom hole circulation contain large drilling cuttings, and the drilling fluid enters the mud vibrating screen through the connecting pipe from the wellhead to the 1# tank. Through the mud vibrating screen, the drilling cuttings with a particle size greater than 74μm are screened out to complete the primary solid phase control

(2) Secondary solid control equipment – remove gas. Vacuum degasser is a special mud treatment equipment used to remove the gas that intrudes into the drilling hole during the drilling process. It can quickly and effectively remove the gas (including air) contained in the mud. The degasser plays an important role in restoring the mud density and preventing the potential blowout and well collapse danger.

(3) Three-stage solid control equipment – remove large particles. The slurry treated by the mud shaker goes into the desander. The desander separates the sand particles with large mud (particle size 44μm – 74μm) to complete the sand removal process, that is, the two-stage solid control.

(4) Four-level solid control equipment – remove small particles. The mud treated by the desander enters the desilter, and the desilter separates the small sand pull (degree 8μm – 44μm) of the mud. The mud removal process is completed. That is, the four-stage mud solid control.

(5) Level 5 solid control equipment – remove small pull. The mud treated by the desilter enters the horizontal spiral centrifuge, which separates the smaller sand pull of the mud (particle size 2μm to 8μm) to complete the centrifugal process, that is, the five-stage solid phase control.

The five-level solid control equipment is mainly used in dry and complex well conditions and higher well conditions. In the actual use process, the first-level mud solid control process can be adopted according to the needs of drilling operations. The solid phase content of mud after five-stage slurry solid control can fully meet the requirements of mud quality in domestic drilling operations.
